Hammerhead shark

Huge schools of hammerhead sharks are seen all year round in the Galapagos Islands, particularly in the waters of the northern islands of Darwin and Wolf. Hammerheads move into the open water at night to feed on pelagic squid. Hammerheads form into the vast schools consisting mostly of females, and scientists are studying this schooling behaviour to understand whether the schools form to attract mates, or to help with the cleaning offered by the king angelfish among others.
